Maxwelton Braes Lodge in Bailey's Harbor is where Pickleball is credited as beginning in Door County around 2010. A group of players from Door County were introduced to the game while visiting a warmer climate. They continued to play Pickleball upon their return to Door County.

The courts at Maxwelton Braes Lodge were just recently resurfaced in 2021. There are 4 dedicated Pickleball courts and 2 shared courts. There is a $25 annual fee or a $5 drop-in fee to use these courts and a signed liability waiver is required prior to playing. No play allowed prior to 9AM everyday. Nets and balls are provided in an unlocked box on the courts.
